• Wasatch Community Gardens is taking reservations for two workshops — "The Soul of Soil" at 10 a.m. on Saturday, and "Drip Irrigation" at 10 a.m. on April 8. Both are scheduled at the Grateful Tomato Garden, 600 E. 800 South. Call 359-2658 for reservations.

• A water-wise gardening series is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on alternating Saturdays at the Anderson-Foothill Branch of the Salt Lake City Library, 1135 S. 2100 East. Topics include "Water-wise Plants" on April 8 and "Gardening How-To" on April 22. For more information, call 594-8611.

• The Utah Orchid Society will hold a show at Red Butte Garden from 9 a.m.-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday. Regular garden admission applies. The Orchid Socity invites everyone to exhibit healthy, bug-free plants. There is no exhibition fee. For more information, call 553-9960 or 363-0817.

• Deseret Morning News garden columnist Larry Sagers will teach a course on basic landscape design at Thanksgiving Point. The course will be April 4, 11 and 19 from 2-4:30 p.m. or 6-8:30 p.m. Cost is $40 and space is limited. To register, call 768-7443 or log on to www.thanksgivingpoint.com.

• Red Butte Garden is sponsoring a workshop on spring bulbs from 1-3 p.m. on April 8. Regular garden admission applies; members get in free. For more information, log on to www.redbuttegarden.org.
