Several prep swimmers recently turned in outstanding performances at sectionals.

In particular, Skyline's Sara Nicponski and Brighton's Ana Agy each stood out.

Nicponski attended the Speedo Western Sectional Championships in Phoenix with the Eagle Aquatics team. She finished second in the 100 breaststroke at 1 minute, 3.10 seconds, a full second faster than the Utah state record she set at February's 5A meet. That time qualified her for Senior Nationals.

Nicponski finished fifth in the 200 breaststroke and 11th in the 200 IM.

Teammate Anna Crandall was third in the 200 free at 1:50.71. She also had solid finishes in the 200 back (seventh) and 100 free (ninth).

KC Albiston did well in the distance events, finishing third in the 1,000 free and fourth in the 1,650 free. Marnie Knoop was eighth in the 100 fly.

On the boys side, Tom Ekstrom finished 12th in the 200 back and 17th in the 500 free. Kearns' Todd Bradley, who went with the Eagle Aquatic team, was 16th in the 100 back and 17th in the 200 IM.

Meanwhile, Agy finished first in the 100 fly at her sectionals. The Cottonwood Heights Aquatic team attended a sectional in College Station, Texas.

Agy finished just off her personal best time in the 100 fly, and she placed well in the 200 fly and 200 IM.

Besides her, Cody Reed, Luke Monson, Ali Siggard and Ashley Spicer all dropped big times in the 1,000 free.
