The numbers: Petersen has led a much-improved Payson squad (five players on the top-goals list) by scoring a hat trick in two games this season. He booted three into the net in the Lions' 9-1 win over Hurricane and then came back two games later to kick in three goals in a 6-1 victory over Timpanogos. He also has one other goal and two assists. "Jeremy is a hard worker and, just like the rest of the team, has matured greatly over the year," Payson coach Don Helvey said.

Amelia Troutner

Timpview Thunderbirds

Class: Senior

Sport: Track

Events: Distance

The numbers: Troutner has been one of the state's top distance runners for the past two years. Last year she finished sixth in the state in the 1,600 meters and third in the 800 meters. She also took second in the 3,200 meters in last year's Region 6 meet. At the BYU Autumn Classic cross country event she finished in 10th place. Last week, at the Provo Bulldogs Invitational, she again showed her versatility by winning the 800 in a time of 2:23.47.
