Utah has joined 17 other states in launching a national public education program on insurance issues, Insure U.
Developed by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Insure U was designed to inform consumers about their insurance options and to educate them about ways to avoid being scammed. Its basic curriculum is available online at www.insureUonline.org.
The department is warning consumers about the growing threat of fake insurance policies and encouraging them to call the Utah Insurance Department prior to purchasing a policy to confirm that they are dealing with a real insurance company licensed to do business in Utah. For those and other questions, consumers should contact the department at 801-538-3800.
