SANDY The city is planning to purchase about three acres for a possible commuter-rail station at 10000 South.
The proposed station could attract business to the area, city officials say. The station would be just west of I-15 in an area zoned for large-scale office buildings, said Nick Duerksen, Sandy's assistant director of community development.
The UTA board also approved the name of a new TRAX station at 9400 South: the "Sandy Expo" station. Construction of the new station is anticipated to be completed this fall.
