Attention, all up-and-coming or would-be singers, songwriters, producers and musicians. It's time for the annual Spring Music Workshop, to be held Saturday in the Maeser Building Auditorium at Brigham Young University in Provo.
The Faith Centered Music Association and the Media Music Division of BYU's School of Music are holding the free workshop for all FCMA members and BYU music students (there is a $15 fee for guests and visitors). Registration starts at 8:30 a.m., with workshops beginning at 9.
Keynote speaker will be composer/arranger/producer Greg Hansen. Workshops include songwriting development, presented by the local chapter of Nashville Songwriters Association International; the inside workings of a record label, by Earl Madsen; and a mini-concert and discussion, by Julie de Azevedo.
Songwriters may present a song for critique during the "refiner's fire" session, where materials are reviewed by a panel or artists and representatives from local record companies.
For more information or to pre-register, contact BYU Music Media Department at 801-422-6396.
