Buckley Jeppson, a male member of the LDS Church who has married another man and who is now facing excommunication, says, "But now many countries are allowing legal same-sex marriage. What are they (the church) going to do in all of those countries where they are sending missionaries?"
In the United States and most other countries, smoking is legal, drinking is legal, gambling is legal, pornography is legal and premarital sex is legal. Yet all of these things are against church standards. Any member who engages in them is subject to church discipline. Homosexual marriage, whether legal or not, is also clearly contrary to church standards. How is it that Mr. Jeppson, a "lifetime member of the LDS Church," is unaware of something so basic?
