The Fort Douglas Military Museum on Thursday will dedicate its Cannon Park to World War II Navy veteran and longtime museum volunteer Arthur J. Gogan.
The ceremony will be held at noon at the museum, 32 E. Potter St. (280 South).
Gogan is noted for his scholarship and collection of military small arms and edged weapons. He also has done extensive research into the Bear River campaign of 1863.
Gogan's knowledge of metallurgy has provided the skills to restore numerous vehicles and artillery pieces on display in Cannon Park, said Jay Nielsen, museum curator.
