3 scenic drives to gain U.S. funds for projects

Three of Utah's most scenic drives will receive federal funding for road and trails improvements, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced this week.

A total of $690,687 in federal grants has been designated for Utah projects. Nationwide, 207 projects in 42 states will be granted more than $22 million.

Utah's projects are:

• Cottonwood Canyons corridor management and interpretive plans — $240,000.

• Dead Horse Point Mesa Scenic Byway and Potash-Lower Colorado River Scenic Byway development, exhibit design and construction — $32,000.

• Nebo Loop National Scenic Byway non-motorized trail project — $418,687.
