LEHI Mountainland Applied Technology College is on its way to having a new permanent campus.
The Utah Legislature gave the school $3.25 million to purchase 22.18 acres in the Thanksgiving Point development for a campus.
MATC must come up with an additional $1.25 million in donations or from its own budget to complete the transaction.
Next year, MATC will request money for a 75,000-square-foot facility to be built on the property. Planning is already under way.
With the money "we will now be able to take advantage of a very favorable sales price negotiated before property values in the area began to accelerate last year," said Rob Brems, MATC campus president.
There are five campuses for MATC. The main campus is in Orem. There also are campuses in American Fork, Springville, Heber City and Park City. In the fall, a new campus will open in Spanish Fork.
