Salt Lake City police on Sunday were looking for two men who broke into an apartment late Saturday and tried to steal a computer while the residents were inside the home.

A 50-year-old woman and her son engaged in a struggle with the men, and the would-be robbers eventually fled without taking anything, said. Salt Lake Police Lt. Gary Layton.

The attempted home-invasion robbery occurred at an apartment complex at 1141 N. Redwood Road.

The assailants were described as a white male about 6 foot 1 with a heavy build, and a white male about 5 foot 8. The first assailant was wearing a dark green ski mask and the second was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt when they entered the home.

When the son tried to intervene, the second robber told him, "This is a jack, now move," and pushed him to the ground, Layton said.

According to the police report, the woman and son managed to fight off the robbers, who decided "they weren't going to get anything and ran out" of the apartment, Layton said.

Anyone with information on the assailants is asked to call the Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-3000.
