TORINO, Italy — The airport in the host city for the Winter Games will suspend all takeoffs and landings Sunday during the Olympics' closing ceremony.

Torino's Caselle airport will suspend flight operations between 10:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. MST, according to a statement posted on the airport's Web site. The same precaution took place during the Games' Feb. 10 opening ceremony.

Italy has put in place a massive security operation in Torino, with about 10,000 police reinforced by soldiers to protect Olympic venues. NATO has provided two AWACS surveillance planes to patrol over northern Italy during the games.
