Former Mountain View High girls basketball, cross country and track coach Dave Houle has landed a new job at a fledgling charter school in south Utah County.
Houle will coach the same sports that he did at Mountain View at American Leadership Academy, a K-12 charter school that opened last fall south of Spanish Fork. He will also serve as an assistant principal.
According to the Utah High School Activities Association, the school has been approved compete in all sports at the 2A level beginning next season in Region 14. The new school includes a gymnasium and a new football field will be constructed before next fall.
Once the school is at full capacity, enrollment will be capped at 150 students per grade.
The school has also hired Darrell Pruitt as boys baseball coach and offered the head football job to former Spanish Fork High coach Scott Brumfield, who turned down the position.
