A measure aimed at protecting the personal identity of blind people at ATMs advanced to the full House on Tuesday.
The proposed legislation would mandate that every ATM installed after Jan. 1, 2007, have a keypad or overlay with Braille so people who cannot see could use the machine without giving their PIN to someone else.
"This is a good accommodation and it sets us on the right course," said Leslie Gertsch of the Utah Council for the Blind.
HB432 passed unanimously out of the House Public Utilities and Technology Committee.
