Thursday, it was because of poor weather. Friday, a circuit breaker was tripped.
For the past two days, trains along the Utah Transit Authority's TRAX line have been delayed five to 15 minutes during the morning commute, inconveniencing commuters and causing general frustration among riders.
UTA officials, aware of the concern, said Friday that the kinks in service weren't something they could have prevented.
"Certainly the weather is something we do our very best to plan for, but there are times when we can't keep up with it," said Jones. "The circuit breaker, well, those are 'used cars' and when you buy a used car it comes with bugs. We are working those out."
Thursday, trains were delayed because of heavy snow on TRAX platforms. The snow was tracked into the TRAX cars by passengers and blocked the sensors that close the car doors.
Friday, the circuit tripped on two of UTA's used San Jose cars. The cars have been brought into the TRAX maintenance center and will be looked at, said Jones.
