Salt Lake County to select ZAP grant recipients

The Salt Lake County Council must wade through more than $197 million worth of Zoo, Arts and Parks (ZAP) recreation funding requests.

It's a tough task because council members have just $30 million to give.

The County Council officially received the 58 requests Tuesday, initiating a months-long decision-making process to determine who gets what.

The county's ZAP Recreation Advisory Board will start sifting through the multi-million-dollar requests later this winter. The County Council will make the final decisions in June.
