Utes still second in latest NCAA gymnastics rankings

The University of Utah maintained its second-place national ranking in women's gymnastics in an NCAA coaches' poll determined by total season average and dated Monday.

The Utes (195.925) are still just a bit behind No. 1 Georgia (196.365) but still have the nation's highest score (197.20) set Jan. 27 at the Huntsman Center.

Brigham Young University ranks 26th (193.325), Southern Utah 27th (192.275) and Utah State 28th (191.86).

Utah has fallen a bit in event and individual rankings but is second nationally in balance beam (48.895) to Arizona State (48.931), whom the Utes beat last Friday in Tempe. Southern Utah (48.058) is 22nd and BYU (47.983) 24th on beam. Utah stands third in vault, fourth on floor and fifth on bars with SUU 22nd.

Ute Nicolle Ford (39.342) ranks seventh among all-arounders with Ashley Postell 15th and Kristina Baskett 18th. Ford (9.91) is tied for second on bars; Baskett is ninth. Ford (9.844) is fifth on beam with Gritt Hofmann (9.83) eighth, Postell 12th, SUU's Leah Sakhitab 13th and Ute Nina Kim 20th in the event with the most state athletes ranked. In vault, Baskett is seventh and Postell 18th.
