Greg James, a 23-year broadcast media veteran, this week was named KSL Television's first chief operating officer.
"This is a new position to help oversee the TV station operations, and to integrate with the added responsibilities that Bruce Christensen has as president of the company, this gives us more of a focus on TV," KSL vice president Steve Poulsen said.
James joined KSL in August 1983 and has served as head of engineering and operations and as news director for both radio and television. In addition to his new role as COO, James also will continue his engineering and operations responsibilities for all Bonneville Salt Lake stations and will serve as vice president of engineering and operations at Bonneville Salt Lake Group.
"I'm delighted with the opportunity to broaden my influence within KSL 5 TV," James said in a prepared statement Monday. "I love this station, and I welcome the chance to work more closely with all of its first-rate professionals. We have an important role in serving the needs of our viewers, which is increasingly difficult to do in the rapidly changing media environment we face today."
The Bonneville Salt Lake Group includes KSL television and radio, and the radio stations 102.7 FM and 1160 AM, FM100, 103.5 The Arrow and AM820. Bonneville International also owns and operates 23 other radio stations in Chicago, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Phoenix and St. Louis.
