A daily look at Super Bowl participants with Utah ties:

JEFF HARTINGS

Team: Pittsburgh Steelers

Pro experience: 10 NFL seasons, fifth with Pittsburgh

Height: 6-foot-3

Weight: 299 pounds

Acquired: Signed by Steelers as free agent before 2001 season

College: Penn State

Hometown: St. Henry, Ohio

How he got there: This current Utah resident and Steelers starting center has been a standout offensive lineman in the NFL since being drafted in the first round (No. 23 overall) of the 1996 NFL Draft, starting 146 of the 148 regular-season games he's played in. On Sunday, he'll add a Super Bowl appearance to his impressive list of professional accomplishments. Hartings began his career in Detroit — site of this year's Super Bowl — and after five seasons with the Lions, signed as a free agent with the Steelers in 2001. In Pittsburgh, he moved from guard to center and replaced Steeler legend Dermontti Dawson. Hartings has started every regular-season game for the Steelers since 2003, and next weekend, he'll be in Honolulu as a reserve center for the AFC in the Pro Bowl.
