The Utah Board of Education isn't supporting a bill that would boost graduation requirements in English, math and science because it intends to do so on its own.
The board Friday voted to consider raising the requirements to four years of English, and three each of math and science in next month's meeting, the Utah Office of Education reported.
First substitute HB230, proposed by Rep. John Dougall, R-American Fork, and supported by original bill sponsoring Rep. Brad Daw, R-Orem, seeks to require four years of all three subjects.
Right now, the state requires three years of English and two each of math and science.
