BYU

WOMEN'S TENNIS: No. 22 BYU takes its game to Madison, Wis., this week to compete in the USTA-ITA national team indoor championships starting today. The Cougars are one of 16 teams playing in championships, a field that consists of 15 of the top 22 ranked teams in the nation. The Cougars will compete in the afternoon half of the draw in the first round where they are slated to take on No. 10 North Carolina. The match begins at 2 p.m.

Weber State

TRACK & FIELD: For the third straight week, Weber State's Wiley King has been named the Big Sky Conference track and field athlete of the week. King won the honor for his performance last weekend at the Washington Invitational in Seattle. The Portland, Ore., native finished second in the heptathlon at the meet with 5,458 points. The total is a new Weber State and Big Sky Conference record and reaches NCAA provisional qualifying standards.

Southern Utah

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: SUU (8-12, 1-8) has a pair of games this week. SUU begins the week by hosting Valparaiso (12-8, 6-3) at 7:05 p.m. at the Centrum Arena. The T-Birds then make a quick trip to Tulsa, Okla., for a Monday date with Oral Roberts.

Westminster

MEN'S BASKETBALL: No. 22 Westminster College (15-5) will take on No. 6 Carroll College (19-2) today at 7 p.m. in the HWAC Fieldhouse. Westminster's Nick Booth was named Frontier Conference player of the week after averaging 21 points and 12 rebounds in road wins over Montana Tech and Montana Western.

Utah State

TRACK & FIELD: USU will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., to compete in the Air Force Invitational this weekend.

Utah Valley

CROSS COUNTRY: Seven Utah Valley State cross country runners have earned independent all-Academic honors for the 2005 fall semester. On the men's side, Michael Vick (4.0 GPA), Mark Lott (3.82 GPA), Joe Bendoski (3.8 GPA), Ryan Gurr (3.7 GPA) and Peter Holm (3.49 GPA) all earned all-Academic honors. On the women's side, Kristen Barney (3.75 GPA) and Rebekah Poppinga (3.71 GPA) received all-Academic honors.
