Preps of the week
With the Lynx trailing St. Joseph by two, Harris was fouled on a 3-pointer attempt with no time remaining. He was all three foul shots to clinch the victory 66-65 victory, and improved Salt Lake's record to 11-1.
"He is a positive leader and a role model for our younger athletes, he plays with intensity," said coach Aaron Schrader. "He has a great shot with a high release that is difficult to defend and has one of the quickest first steps I've seen."
In that game against St. Joseph, Harris finished with 41 points. Earlier in the week against Oakley, Harris racked up 28 points in just 14 minutes.
"He is a team player that gets everyone else involved, but who can take over a game when needed," said Schrader.
"Her greatest asset is that each night teams are throwing different defenses at her," said Bobcat coach Curtis Barney. "She is willing to do whatever it takes to make the team successful, whether it's rebounding, playing good defense, or finding the open player when she is double-teamed."
Sawyer had a huge game against Piute with 26 points and 15 rebounds. The two-sport star - volleyball and basketball - is averaging nearly 20 points per game, 11 rebounds, six blocks, five assists and four steals per game.
"Halie is the most versatile player I have had the opportunity to coach," Barney said. "She is very unselfish, and she's a great leader and a great person."
