Delivery and logistics company DHL on Monday said it will expand its Salt Lake operations and build a new service center at the Salt Lake City International Airport.
The $4.3 million investment includes construction of a 62,000-square-foot facility at the airport for pickup, delivery and sorting operations. It will include 5,690 square feet of office space.
The company has a "pass-through" ramp operation at the airport in which packages are off-loaded from aircraft and shuttled to its existing service center in West Valley City. Construction began this month on a larger service center at the airport that will consolidate both facilities.
The new facility at 3975 W. 1580 North will employ 142 people when fully operational Aug. 1, the company said. It will be able to process about 5,000 packages per hour.
