KANAB A 17-year-old boy was listed in serious condition in a Las Vegas hospital Sunday after he was shot in the eye with a .22-caliber rifle late Saturday.
The boy, a 19-year-old man and a female juvenile were in a Kanab motel room when the incident occurred about 9:45 p.m., according to the Kanab Police Department. Officers said the 19-year-old was handling the gun when it apparently went off by accident.
A search warrant was obtained, and officers found illegal drugs and weapons in the room. The 19-year-old was detained for questioning.
The victim was taken to Kane County Hospital and stabilized, then transported by medical helicopter to the Las Vegas Medical Center.
