OREM A Brigham Young University physics professor will discuss scientific and ethical questions surrounding the collapse of the World Trade Center during the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.
Steven Jones' discussion will be in the Utah Valley State College computer science building, Room 404, on Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m.
Jones will discuss building No. 7, which was not hit by one of the jets, but collapsed due to fire. No steel-frame, 47-story skyscraper had ever collapsed due to fire before 9/11. Jones will also discuss the dust and whether people were given false reassurances about it. Jones will challenge some prevalent beliefs concerning the several building collapses.
In preparation, UVSC asks attendees to read a peer-reviewed paper on the subject: www.physics.byu.edu/research/energy/htm7.html.
