SNOWBOARDING DELAYED: The final round in the U.S. Snowboarding Trials was postponed Saturday due to windy conditions and rescheduled for Sunday morning, organizers said.
The competition, which will decide the U.S. team for the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, will resume at Mountain Creek Resort with the men's events at 8:45 a.m., followed by the women's competition. The announcement of the U.S. team members is expected to be made at 1:15 p.m. EST.
INTERIM DIRECTOR NAMED: Chris Overholt was announced Saturday as the new interim executive director of the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation, becoming the fourth person to hold the job since January 2004.
Overholt replaces Robie Vaughn, who was the USBSF's interim director following Claire DelNegro's resignation as the full-time director on July 30.
Overholt was the executive vice president for business operations and chief marketing officer for the NHL's Florida Panthers until early 2005. Goodwin said Overholt will work to develop a long-term plan for the federation and find a permanent director.

TECH TO REVIEW ACTIONS: Virginia Tech president Charles Steger asked a school oversight committee to look into Tech's handling of former quarterback Marcus Vick, who was tossed from the team for a series of offenses.
Vick, the younger brother of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, was kicked off the team Jan. 6 following a succession of legal and other problems, including his unsportsmanlike conduct in the Gator Bowl.
Three days after he was booted from the team, Vick was charged with pulling a gun on three people in a restaurant parking lot in Suffolk. He has announced his intention to enter the NFL draft.
Steger said he will ask a committee to look into how Tech dealt with its former quarterback's indiscretions and see if changes should be made to the 4,000-word document that outlines the state university's rules on student-athlete behavior.
