LEHI All kinds of people come to train shows, but the train show enthusiasts are most excited to see the young.
"What we're trying to do is get the young involved," said Robert Shearer, one of the men who helps pull the annual events together.
Shearer said the thinking is to bring up another generation of modelers who love trains.
"It's a great hobby. You don't have to have a whole lot of money to do this," Shearer said.
Shearer said he got his first train when he was 8 years old, an N scale. He's 42 now and has enjoyed trains off and on ever since.
At the Thanksgiving Point train show there will be approximately 50 trains from groups represented including the Ophir-Tintac and Western Model Railroad Club, the Lego train club, the Ogden Hostlers and the American Flyers.
Trains on display will include N scale, O scale and HO trains.
Free "how to" clinics and opportunities to try the model trains first-hand will be offered.
Model train vendors will also be on hand.
According to organizers, the model train show in Lehi is the largest model train show in Utah County.
