PARK CITY A Utah County juvenile who allegedly tried to sell stolen skis on auction Web site eBay found himself in hot water last week when police showed up at his home.
The most recent ski theft victim reported his skis were stolen Jan. 7. The next day, he found them for sale on eBay and contacted police, according to a news release from the Park City Police Department.
Police found out the address of the ski seller and tracked him down to Utah County, where they arrested him and recovered six sets of allegedly stolen skis, the release states.
The juvenile has been linked to the theft of 15 sets of skis and five snowboards the total value of which may be as high as $15,000 from the Park City area in the past several weeks, police said.
Anyone whose skis have been stolen from the Park City area recently should contact the Park City Police Department at 435-615-5500.
Park City police also offer a free registration program for owners of skis and snowboards to help prevent thefts and to help owners track down stolen property.
Registrations are available on weekends at Park City Mountain Resort and Deer Valley Ski Resort or during normal business hours at the police department.
