Free parking at Salt Lake City meters for green vehicles is official.
Alternative-fuel and high-fuel efficiency vehicles with stickers marking them as such can park at city meters for free; drivers still must follow time limits at the meters, however.
The parking is for cars that don't use gas or diesel or that use them in combination with other fuels, such as natural gas. Cars that get more than 50 miles per gallon and low-polluting vehicles also can park free. Drivers can get a sticker for the parking at the Salt Lake City Transportation Division, or they can display their Utah Clean Fuel license plates.
