People aged 15 to 19 made up the largest age group of people involved in and injured in crashes. The age group with the highest proportion of people killed on Utah's roads in 2004 was the 20-to-24-year group.
Drivers aged 20 to 29 in Utah made up the largest percentage of drivers involved in fatal crashes in Utah in 2004.
Nationally, the Highway and Auto Safety group said car crashes cause nearly 43,000 deaths and 3 million injuries each year and cost taxpayers more than $230 billion.
Sixteen states were given a green rating in the report. Four states, Alaska, Arkansas, South Dakota and Wyoming, received red ratings.
Twenty-eight states did not have primary seat-belt enforcement laws in 2005, according to the report.
The Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety organization is an alliance of insurance companies as well as consumer, safety, health and law enforcement organizations.
