Ellertson named commission chairman

PROVO — Larry Ellertson was elected Tuesday as chairman of the Utah County Commission for the coming year.

Ellertson, who began serving on the board in 2005, takes over as chairman from Commissioner Jerry Grover. Commissioner Steve White will serve as vice chairman.

"I've appreciated serving as chairman, but typically we rotate these positions to spread the pain out somewhat," Grover said jokingly.

Ellertson served as mayor of Lindon from 1996 to 2005. Other civic positions he has held include president and board member of the Utah League of Cities and Towns, chairman of the Provo/Orem Chamber of Commerce, chairman and board member of the United Way of Utah County and chairman of the Mountainland Association of Governments.
