Simply put, the Days of '47 Pioneer Day celebration is overrated, highly inconvenient, smells of state endorsement of religion, brings out the unruly pompous LDS sect and upstages the nation's birthday.

As there is not one pioneer left alive, let's put this lopsided holiday to rest. Celebrate the dead pioneers on the day nationally set aside for remembrance of all those who helped build this nation and fight for it, Memorial Day.
