Two teens accused of stealing a car were arrested following a short chase in Salt Lake City Friday morning.
An officer from the state Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division spotted the car about 8 a.m. and discovered it was stolen after checking the license plates, said division spokesman Charlie Roberts.
When the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, it took off. Near 1400 West and 700 North the officer conducted a pit maneuver, bumping the fleeing vehicle and causing it to spin out, Roberts said.
Two occupants of the vehicle got out and ran through several back yards. But by that time officers from the Utah Highway Patrol and Salt Lake City police were in the area and able to help find the teens.
The two 17-year-olds were booked into juvenile detention. An undisclosed amount of drugs and knives were found in the stolen vehicle.
