Michael Sullivan, director of communications for the Utah Governor's Office of Economic Development, said Friday that GOED "is quite pleased" with the institute's ranking.

"In a growing and burgeoning economy, to hold that ranking in relationship to many other, major populous states shows that the Utah economy has been both resilient over the years and aggressive in its efforts to maintain a stable and strong economy."

In the next few weeks, Sullivan said GOED and the governor will continue to prepare for the upcoming legislative session, during which initiatives will be introduced to grow the economy further.

"Initiatives are in process to support technology advancement, business growth in rural communities and improving the general business climate in the state of Utah," Sullivan said.
