When all is said and done, Ludwig noted, it'll be a players' game.

Both teams wrapped up preparations with practices Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday's walk-through at the stadium provided the finishing touch.

"We're looking forward to a great game," said Gailey, who doesn't believe common opponent North Carolina is much of a barometer of things to come. The Yellow Jackets defeated the Tar Heels 27-21 at home, while the Utes dropped a 31-17 decision in Chapel Hill.

In terms of athleticism and speed, Whittingham said the Atlantic Coast Conference teams have a lot of similarities.

Even so, Utah's primary focus has centered around its own preparation. The Utes have won their past four bowl games and would, for obvious reasons, like to extend their win streak.

"This team has prepared well all season long," Whittingham said. "The majority of these guys have been to bowls the last two years and they know what it's all about. The young guys are learning from the older guys. We've had great preparation."
