CROSS COUNTRY: After their performances at the NCAA championships on Nov. 21, junior Josh Rohatinsky, sophomore Chandler Goodwin and senior Chelsea Smith McKell were each named USCCCA All-Americans. Rohatinsky placed sixth overall at nationals for his second consecutive all-America award. Goodwin earned his first all-America honor with a 36th-place finish. Smith McKell earned her first Div. I all-America honor after placing 24th.

UVSC

WRESTLING: Utah Valley State will be one of 27 teams competing at this year's Reno Tournament of Champions on Sunday. Some of the nation's best, including top-ranked Oklahoma State, will compete in the event. The Wolverines will send 13 wrestlers to the tournament, with 10 of the 13 to compete for an overall team score.

WOMEN'S SOCCER: Melissa Wayman, a junior defender, has been named to the All-West Region third team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The NSCAA also honored Utah with its Team Academic Award for the 2004-05 school year.

SOFTBALL: Mona Stevens has resigned after nine years as the head softball coach at Utah to pursue other opportunities. Stevens compiled a 281-239-1 (.540) record at the U. from 1997-2005. An interim coach will be appointed before the students return from their semester break "to make the transition as smooth as possible," athletic director Chris Hill said.

Southern Utah

WOMEN'S SOCCER: SUU has been honored as one of 246 programs of all divisions by the NSCAA for posting a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2004-05 academic year. Head coach Brian Stock's team posted a team 3.32 GPA.

Other colleges

VOLLEYBALL: It took all season to set up this marquee matchup in women's college volleyball.

Top-seeded Nebraska will face No. 3-seed Washington for the NCAA title tonight in San Antonio. Both teams dominated during the regular season, each winning conference titles while losing only once.

"I think this is what everybody wanted," Nebraska coach John Cook said Friday. "We tried to play every top team this year, and the only one we haven't played is Washington."

Washington (31-1) has the NCAA's best hitting percentage of .341; Nebraska (33-1) is fourth in hitting percentage at .324.
