CHRIS CASSITY, Jordan: This senior led the Beetdiggers to a pair of victories at the Utah Holiday Prep Classic at the E Center last week.

In Monday's win over Copper Hills, Cassity recorded 12 points in a balanced attack by the 'Diggers. Four nights later in the championship game of Jordan's four-team bracket against American Fork, Cassity netted a game-high 20 points, thanks in large part to 12-of-12 shooting from the free-throw line.

In the fourth quarter alone, Cassity buried 8-of-8 free throws to ice the four-point victory.

Five games into the season, the 6-foot-1 guard is eighth in Class 5A scoring with a 16.4 average.

MICHELLE HARRISON, Mtn. View: Anyone who has seen this Stanford-bound senior play for five minutes knows how good she is on the basketball court. But what she's doing in her last year of high school hoops is elevating the play of those around her.

"She's helping the other kids rise to another level," said coach Dave Houle of the 3.95 GPA student. "The kids look to her for leadership."

Harrison is leading the state in scoring with nearly 25 points per game. She is also averaging 4.5 assists, and she's grabbed 60 rebounds and has 19 blocks — 10 away from a state record. Her on-court efforts helped lift Mtn. View to a 4-0 record and a national ranking, as well as a No. 1 state-wide ranking.
