Utah Valley gets taste of Pac-10

Wolverines look to improve 4-4 record at Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. — The Utah Valley State men's basketball team plays at Arizona State today at 1 p.m. The game can be heard live on 1400 KSTAR. This is the first meeting between the two schools and the first time the Wolverines have played a Pac-10 school.

The Wolverines (4-4) are coming off two home wins against Sacramento State (71-69) and Weber State (68-49). Arizona State (4-1) lost at Minnesota on Monday 85-79 in overtime. They had previously beaten, SUU, Alcorn State, UC Santa Barbara and North Texas.

"Our players are excited about the opportunity to compete against a Pac-10 team," Utah Valley State coach Dick Hunsaker said. "Arizona State is going to have a leg up on us athletically and sizewise. We are going to have to be solid simply to be competitive."

Arizona State is led by the scoring duo of Kevin Kruger and Bryson Krueger. Kruger is averaging 17.2 points a game while Krueger is scoring 16.8 points a game. Krueger is shooting 58 percent from the 3-point line while Kruger is shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc.

Matt Peterson leads Utah Valley in scoring with a 13.4-point average while Ben Devoe is averaging 11.4 points and grabbing a team-best 6.3 rebounds. Peterson is shooting 50 percent from the floor while Devoe is a 58 percent shooter from the floor.

Following Saturday's game, the Wolverines have a week off before they play at Boise State on Saturday Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. Their next home game is Dec. 22 against Montana Tech.
