Have you listened to KSL radio on the FM band? Since the station started simulcasting on FM-102.7, it has earned a 1.9 percent share of the listening audience there good enough for 20th place on its own in the Salt Lake-area market.
Now add KSL's AM listening audience for the AM-1160 dial spot, a No. 1 7.3 percent share of the age 12-plus listening audience for part one of the fall ratings period, and the station commands a 9.2 percent share of the total audience.
Second place is sister station KSFI, ("FM-100") at 5.8 percent, followed closely by KXRK ("X-96") at 5.7 percent. It isn't that "X-96" is improving; "FM-100" is slowly dropping. I've heard formerly loyal KSFI listeners talk of changing their presets because the station has somehow altered its musical programming, and it's certainly not helping its audience. (Although KSFI is currently playing all-holiday music through Christmas.)
KUBL (FM-93.3) is the top country station at fourth place overall, with a 5.4 percent audience. KNRS (AM-570) is fifth at 4.7 percent.
KTKK ("K-Talk," AM-630) does not show up in these latest 12-plus ratings and neither does KUTR (AM-860).
The remaining rankings are: 6. KBER (FM-101.1), 4.3 percent; 7. KRSP (FM-103.5), 3.9; 8. KODJ (FM-94.1), 3.8; 8. KSOP (FM-104.3), 3.5; 10. KOSY (FM-106.5), 3.4; 11. (tie) KZHT (FM-97.1) and KJMY (FM-99.5), both 3.2 percent; 13. (tie) KDUT (FM-102.3, Spanish) and KUUU ("U-92") , 2.7 percent each; 15. KBMG (FM-106.1, Spanish), 2.5; 16. KJQN (FM-105.1), 2.4; 17. KENZ (FM-101.9), 2.3; 18. KHTB (FM-94.9), 2.2; 19. (tie) KBZN (FM-97.9) and KEGA (FM-101.5), 2.1 each; 21. KSL-FM (102.7), 1.9; 22. KZNS-AM (1280)/KOVO-AM (860), 1.3; 23. KALL-AM (700), 1.1; 24. KUDD (FM-107.9), 1.0; 25. KDYL-AM (1060), 0.9); 26. KXRV (FM-105.7), 0.8; 27. KXTA (Spanish), 0.6; and 28. KFNZ-AM (1320), 0.5. KSFI ALTERNATIVE Sick of holiday music already? FM-100.3 may be slipping in the ratings and airing all-Christmas music currently, but if you go online to www.fm100.com, you can access KSFI's regular adult contemporary, non-holiday music through your computer.
KOSY CHRISTMAS KIDS The station will feature choirs and various other music groups from elementary schools along the Wasatch Front this month, Monday through Saturday, until Dec. 26. Schools are encouraged to record their holiday performances and send tapes or CDs to the station.
