CENTERVILLE — Site plans for a Super Wal-Mart in Centerville have been signed and approved, but a handful of Davis County residents — long opposed to the project — are pushing a referendum that asks for a revote on the deal.

David Putnam Jr., who is leading the charge to collect signatures, says the final site plan for Wal-Mart is inadequate. It does not give specific detail about how increased traffic caused by the retail store will be dealt with, he said.

"Centerville is a jewel," Putnam said. "It's an endangered species right now, and it needs to be preserved."

Putnam says he has until Dec. 16 to collect about 1,200 signatures for the referendum. He is being assisted by Ralph and Grace Webb of Centerville.
