Besides, it wasn't Andre's fault that my husband and I (in spite of several college degrees between us) can't figure out how to order tickets online. I was ready to write off the whole thing when Andre emerged from the gilded interior of Radio City Music Hall.

"I gotta friend who's gonna try to hook you up," he said. "Follow me."

He led us inside and turned us over to a woman who told us to follow her. "Sit here," she said, shining a flashlight on some seats behind the tech crew. "And by the way, have a Merry Christmas."

So my parents and my husband and I got to watch the Rockettes wearing fishnets. And we also got to watch the tech guys NOT wearing fishnets. (They wore black T-shirts and headphones.) Anyway. The whole thing was completely memorable. Thanks to someone who decided to go out of his way to help someone else.

(Merry Christmas, Andre!)
