PROVO — Utah County Commissioners will decide Tuesday whether to continue contracting with the Utah County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Since the bureau became a private company in 2003, it has focused on professional conventions, movie filming and sporting events to boost interest in the Utah County area.

"Results have been very positive in our efforts to attract more leisure and group travellers to Utah Valley during the past year," said Joel Racker, the bureau's president and CEO, in a statement.

Racker said overall hotel occupancy in Utah County was up 6.7 percent in the past year.

The bureau will present its marketing plan for the coming year to the county commissioners on Tuesday.
