Alumni to bid 'Mansion' farewell

All alumni of LDS Business College are invited to bid a final farewell to "The Mansion" during a reunion there tonight from 6 to 9 p.m., to include dancing, entertainment, historic displays, artistic performances and an awards ceremony.

"Farewell to the Mansion" is being hosted in preparation for the school's move next summer to the Triad Center downtown. Thousands of students have passed through the Mansion's doors during the past 43 years, and for most it will be a final chance to enjoy the historic building.

Dress is semi-formal and light refreshments will be served. Mansion keepsakes will be available for purchase, and guests will be asked to share their memories of the school.

Amram Musungu, a graduate, will be honored with the college's Alumni Achievement award. A native of Kenya, Musungu joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and overcame poverty and many hardships to come to the United States seeking an education.

Once enrolled at the college, he earned three associate degrees in two years and went on to graduate from Westminster College with a bachelor's degree in accounting. Along the way, he worked several jobs to put himself through school.

Now employed full time in Salt Lake City, Musungu sings with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, serves as a part-time BYU faculty member and translator and plans to seek a Ph.D. in finance at the University of Utah.

All alumni, guests and friends of the college are invited. For more information, see the Web site at www.ldsbc.edu.
