OGDEN — If history holds true, the odds of Weber State getting a win in its season opener are pretty much guaranteed.

The Wildcats open their season tonight against Montana-Western in the Dee Events Center with the tipoff set for 7.

The facts are pretty clear. WSU is 36-7 in season-opening games, and 29-2 when opening at home. The Wildcats were 2-0 in their exhibition games with wins over the University of Victoria (77-49) and Adam State College (62-61).

And the biggest telling sign, Weber State has never lost to Montana-Western in seven previous meetings. The last meeting came in 2001.

The Bulldogs come in with a record of 2-4 and will have played at Dickinson State on Thursday.

Following tonight's game with Montana-Western, the 'Cats will travel to Boise State on Monday and return to Ogden for a game on Wednesday with Montana Tech. The Wildcats lost to the Broncos by double digits in a bracket-buster game last season. In their only meeting ever, Weber State holds a 1-0 advantage over Montana Tech.

WILDCAT NOTES: It appears that sophomore guard Juan Pablo Silveira will sit out the 2005-06 season as a redshirt. He started out as a redshirt last year but was inserted into the line up when Dale Parsons decided not to return to the team last December.
