Food Bank still looking for turkey donations

With 10 days until Thanksgiving, the Utah Food Bank is still looking for 10,000 turkeys to meet this year's distribution goal of providing 18,000 meals to Utahns in need.

Frozen turkeys are being transported daily by trucks to food pantries across the state for distribution before Thanksgiving. This week marks a critical time for the annual food drive in order to provide holiday meals for as many people as possible this year, said Utah Food Bank executive director Jim Pugh.

"As people prepare to give thanks, we hope they remember the Utah Food Bank in their plans and drop off a turkey or some non-perishable food at one of our many drop-off locations," Pugh said.

Turkey donations are being accepted at the Utah Food Bank, 1025 S. 700 West, any local Smith's store or online at www.utahfoodbank .org. As of Tuesday, the food bank had collected nearly 8,000 turkeys and 200,000 pounds of food.
