Trapped for cash

Since 1994, the number of payday lenders has grown from 14 to 381 in the Salt Lake area. And few states are friendlier to payday lenders than Utah.

In a three-day series, the Deseret Morning News explores the industry. Sunday's report focused on the problems such loans can create for unwary borrowers. Today, the stories detail the industry's growth in the Beehive State. Tuesday's stories examine why Utah has not adopted tougher regulations.
