WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Coach Elaine Elliott has announced the signing of three student-athletes to national letters-of-intent — Hennasea Tokumura (Honolulu, Hawaii), Brette Ulsaker (McPherson, Kan.) and Kalee Whipple (Hiko, Nev.).

VOLLEYBALL: Coach Beth Launiere, who had the eighth-best recruiting class in the country entering the 2005 season, has signed another top young player for next season — Alta High's Sydney Anderson

VOLLEYBALL: Coach Burt Fuller announced the signing of Miranda Kitts of Colorado and Springville's Danielle Taylor to national letters of intent.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Coach Bill Evans announced the signing of junior college sophomore Clarence Juillet, a 6-foot-6, 245-pound post player from Pontault-Combault, France.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Southern Utah head women's basketball coach Joe Hillock announced Friday the signing of Payson High standout Aubrey Orton to a letter of intent.

Weber State

FOOTBALL: Weber State running back Adrian Conway has been named to the CoSIDA / ESPN The Magazine All-District Eight Academic team.

BYU

FOOTBALL: Junior receiver Nathan Meikle has been named Academic All-District by ESPN the Magazine and the College Sports Information Directors of America.

BASEBALL: Mike McKeever, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound outfielder from San Diego; Brad Kidd, a 6-3, 225-pound right-handed pitcher from Salem, Ore.; and Austin Hall, a 6-3, 190-pound right-handed pitcher/shortstop from Danville, Calif., signed with the Cougars.

VOLLEYBALL: Middle blocker Lindsy Hartsock was honored this week for her success both on the court and in the classroom as she was named to the CoSIDA Academic District VIII Second Team.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: In its final tune-up before the regular season begins, BYU fired past Mesa State, 98-64, Friday at the Marriott Center. The Cougars start regular-season play on the road Nov. 19 when they play Cal State-Northridge.

UVSC

WRESTLING: True freshman heavyweight Dallin Norton was impressive in his first collegiate match as he topped Iowa State's Richard Schopf 5-4 in UVSC's season-opening dual against the No. 7-ranked Cyclones, who prevailed 33-9 at home.
