New art at skateparks
Salt Lake City's public art program has unveiled two new sculptures at local skateparks. "SK8180" (pronounced "skate-ee-eighty), below left, by Stephen Glassman of Venice, Calif., was installed at Fairmont Park, 1044 E. Sugarmont Drive. The sculpture is fabricated of rolled and galvanized steel and is intended to reflect the motion of the skateboarders in action. "Tweak 360," at right, by Robert Ellison of Napa County, Calif., is a pleasing abstract form in painted steel that also addresses the movement of skateboarders. This piece was installed at the Jordan Park, 1000 S. 900 West.
