SPANISH FORK MAYOR

Sherman E. Huff

Age: 67 — "I'll be 68 Nov. 8."

Political Experience: Served eight years on the city council.

Education: Associate degree from Snow College

Occupation: A manager of Pacific Pipe Credit Union (now called Horizon) for 36 1/2 years. Retired three years ago.

Interesting fact: He has served his church during free time, including The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' branch at the Utah County Jail.


Joe Thomas

Age: 40

Political Experience: No previous political experience.

Education: Some college

Occupation: He owns a handful of businesses, including a diabetes treatment clinic, an apartment complex, a lube and oil service, a gas station and a consulting business.

Interesting fact: He worked for business motivational speaker Stephen Covey as a consultant and presenter.

SPANISH FORK CITY COUNCIL

G. Wayne Anderson

Age: 57

Political Experience: No previous political experience.

Education: Some college

Occupation: He has a cattle ranch and has been working for Utah State University in its Crop Improvement Association.

Interesting fact: Has been a lifelong resident of Spanish Fork. Has six children and nine grandchildren. He has been involved in youth sporting activities, school booster clubs and the 4-H.

Royden Hill

Age: 74

Political Experience: None, although he has run for office in the past.

Education: Bachelor's degrees in music and accounting from Brigham Young University.

Occupation: Retired. He taught school, owned motels and sold real estate.

Interesting fact: His hobby is genealogy. Has served genealogy missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Steve Leifson

Age: 52

Political Experience: No previous political experience.

Education: Associate degree from Utah Trade Technical Institute (now UVSC)

Occupation: He's a general contractor building light commercial structures. He previously worked for a company in Texas and travelled throughout the United States. Now he works for himself.

Interesting fact: He's a fourth generation builder. His father was a city judge for 16 years. His uncle served on the City Council.

Treaci Tagg

Age: 36

Political Experience: Is serving on the city's recreation committee

Education: Degree in secondary education with an emphasis in social sciences from Brigham Young University.

Occupation: Stay-at-home mother. Previously taught in the Jordan School District, and has tutored troubled teens in Spanish Fork.

Interesting fact: "I don't have any great agenda or plan of what needs to be changed or done," she said. "I feel like it's a good city but I do feel like we could improve the communication. I do think I'm a good communicator and (I respect) people."
