D-LEAGUE DRAFT: Center James Lang, waived by the Jazz prior to the start of the season, was a second-round selection of the Arkansas Rimrockers in the NBA Development League draft held earlier this week. Guard Mark Karcher, who also went to training camp with the Jazz before being waived last month, was taken in the fifth round by Fayetteville.

The Jazz's new D-League affiliate, Albuquerque, made former University of Kentucky forward Chuck Hayes its first-round selection. Hayes, not taken in the NBA Draft, went to training camp with Houston before being waived by the Rockets.

Former Houston and Orlando guard Andre Barrett went No. 1 overall to the Florida Flame.

ALUMNI UPDATE: Former Jazz forward Kelly Tripuka, who played in Utah for two seasons from 1986-88, earlier this week was hired as a scout by the New York Knicks.
